Berlin: Dear Federal Council of Germany, Vote to Care About Refugees

On Friday, 19 September 2014, the Federal Council of Germany will vote on whether Serbia, Bosnia Herzegovina and Macedonia constitute “safe countries of origin”.

If this is the case, individuals seeking asylum can be deported by default. This is not only contrary to the idea of individual assessment but also would constitute a blank provision in danger of human rights violations.

For more information see the article published on the website of the Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung. Furthermore, there will be an event tonight in Berlin addressing this issue as well as a draft law allowing more arrests and detention.
